Hard brick warning - read before boot loader unlock

Hard brick warning - read before boot loader unlock

The phones affected by the problem are units being manufactured at, and after, 11W29!

To check if your device is affected by the problem follow this simple steps:
  1. Turn off the phone and open it up
  2. Take out the battery
  3. Look at the sticker below

If the date code on the sticker reads 11W29, or any later date (11W30, 11W31, 11W32, 11W33, ...), DO NOT attempt to unlock the boot loader.

These phones ship with a revamped chipset configuration having the security hole the boot loader unlock uses effectively closed. This means that upon unlocking the boot loader your phone will end up as a hard brick - and you will have NO means to revive the phone yourselves. You either have to send it off to Sony Ericsson for repair (recommended solution) or find a phone repair shop being able to resurrect shot devices!

The symptom you will experience when unlocking the boot loader on an affected device is like this:
  • The boot loader unlock will most likely go through fine
  • At restart the phone will show NO signs of life anymore.
NO LED, NO LCD output, NO vibration.

This is the point where you can not do anything anymore yourself to resurrect the device.

You have been warned, DO NOT TRY to unlock the boot loader on phones manufactured PAST 11W29!

Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 Install Flash 10.1 on Android 2.1

Now that the latest version of Flash for Android devices has been released by Adobe, you can get it on your Sony Ericsson Xpreia X8 running Android 2.1 Ã‰clair. Just follow these simple steps and you will be enjoying flash playback on your handset in no time.
First of all, download ‘flash_for_2.1.zip’ from the link given at the end of this article and extract the .apk file that it contains to your computer. Now connect your phone to your computer via USB and copy the .apk file to your SD card’s root folder. Make sure that you don’t copy it to a sub-folder as it will not work that way.
Next, install the ‘Apps Installer’ application, which can be found at the Android Market. Once it has been installed, launch it and follow its instructions to browse to the .apk file that you copied to your storage card, and install it.
Once the installation is finished, reboot your phone, and you’re done. You can now start browsing flash websites on your phone.

Basebands for Xperia

Kernel and baseband are related to each other, so if you have baseband 006, you'll have 2.0.2.A.0.24 kernel, and with baseband 015 you'll get 2.1.1.A.0.6 kernel.
If you try to flash latest kernel to phone with baseband 006, you'll get infinite boot loops. This can be fixed by simply flashing correct bundle (kernel/baseband).

All basebands are in Xperia X8 folder on Mediafire.
Currently, these basebands are available:
X8i - E15i
Baseband 006 - kernel 2.0.2.A.0.24
Baseband 015 - kernel 2.1.1.A.0.6

X8a - E15a
Baseband 006 - kernel 2.0.2.A.0.24
Baseband 015 - kernel 2.1.1.A.0.6

Every baseband version is: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-534040xy where xy is either 06 or 15, depending on which baseband you flash.
