How to Root the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8


How to Root the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 Step By Step for Windows users:
  1. Download and install the Xperia X8 USB Drivers to your Windows PC
  2. Turn on USB debugging on your phone: Settings>Applications>Development>USB Debugging
  3. Download the latest SuperOneClick.zip file to your Windows computer. link Download the latest version.  (I’m sorry, you’ll need to register)
  4. Extract the files from the .zip file into a new folder on your Windows PC.
  5. Restart both. The PC and X8 just in case.
  6. Plug your phone in to your PC and turn on USB debugging. DO NOT MOUNT THE SD CARD!!!
  7. Open the folder with the SuperOneClick contents and double click “SuperOneClick.exe”.
  8. Run the program, click root and wait few minutes. Done.
If it doesn’t work at the first time just re-run the program once or twice.

PC Companion is a computer application that acts as a portal to Sony Ericsson and operator features and applications, such as phone software updates, management of contacts and calendar, and media management with Media Go (availability of applications depends on your phone and operator). Over time, more applications can be added and downloaded when made available by Sony Ericsson or your operator.

Requirements
Recommended system requirements:
  • Internet broadband connection
  • Intel® Pentium® 4, 3.6 GHz or equivalent AMD processor
  • 500 MB free hard disk space
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 1 available USB 2.0 port and USB cable
  • Microsoft® Windows XP™ SP2 (32 bit), Vista (32/64 bit) or Windows 7 (32/64 bit)

Installation instructions
  1. Download the installation package to a temporary folder on your PC.
  2. Run the downloaded file, and follow the instructions that appear.

How to use
  1. Connect the USB cable to your computer and then to the phone.
  2. On the phone: Mount the memory card by dragging the status bar on the phone downwards and then tap USB Connected >Mount.
  3. Wait for the phone to connect and automatically start PC Companion.
  4. From the Dashboard, select the applications to start different services and get information

Note: If PC Companion doesn't find your phone within 30 seconds, disconnect the phone and redo step 1 to 3.
